Scarab is the first novel featuring Sandor Dyle, my futuristic detective who solves crimes through use of pattern analysis, a new human talent which allows gifted individuals to detect relationships in data which are so subtle that even sophisticated computer programs aren't always able to detect them.  It was published by Five Star Books in 2004.  Dyle is visiting a world where economic status is the preoccupation of everyone on the planet.  When a serial killer chooses a victim from among the upper class, the authorities request his assistance.
